Bob Yancy

for College Station City Council

Bob Yancy graduated high school in Katy, Texas. He married his high school sweetheart, Kristi, and enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged in 1989 and later moved his family of four to College Station to finish his degree at Texas A&M.

In the early 90s, Bob took a job as Public Information Officer for the City of College Station. This gave him unique insights into City Hall, where he designed the city's first website and communicated city news to citizens.

In 2000, Bob and Kristi formed MEMdata, a medical technology firm that grew to serve hospitals in 42 states, Canada, Mexico and South Korea while creating jobs here in College Station. Bob & Kristi sold MEMdata in 2014.

Bob successfully completed the maximum of 9 years on the board of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, College Station region, in June of 2022.  He served 6 years as the health system's first board chairman.

In 2012, Bob Yancy was appointed by Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Statewide Healthcare Council and was asked to extend his tenure as councilman by Governor Abbott.

In 2021, Congressman Pete Sessions appointed Yancy as chairman of his Service Academy Selection Committee. Congressman Sessions recently asked Bob to continue serving in this role for the next class of young applicants to our nation's military academies.

Today, Bob & Kristi lease quality, well-maintained single family homes and commercial property to job-creating businesses. Bob & Kristi know firsthand how our city's growth can impact neighborhood integrity.

Both of Bob & Kristi's grown children and their spouses are proud Aggies.  Bob & Kristi are proud grandparents of three.
